A not so great cookbook

Since I’ve been on a bit of a Mediterranean cooking spree, I decided to see what else I could find to cook.  The Cooking of the Eastern Mediterranean looked interesting and had good reviews.

So I added it to an order and after looking through the “215 Healthy, Vibrant and Inspired Recipes”, well lets just say I wasn’t feeling very Vibrant nor Inspired.  In fact I decided to let it sit for a few days and then releaf through it and I still couldn’t find a single recipe that I thought looked good enough to try.  Plus, I’m not sure I could get the ingredients.  Paula Wolfert even discourages making these dishes, stating that you can’t possibly get the right mix of spices unless you buy them from the local spice vendor in the village she got the recipe from.

Next time I’ll pay more attention to the 2 reviewers who gave it the right review and not the 12 who raved about it.
